Quick Facts

  • Only the calculators listed here are accepted for the Math Test--Calculator portion of the test.
  • It is forbidden to use any calculator when working on those Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test--No Calculator sections. You must put the calculator aside during these sections of the test.
  • You'll be disqualified and your scores will be canceled when you use your calculator to give out details during the test or to take test questions or their answers from the test room.

Calculator Smarts

  • Bring your personal calculator. You cannot share one.
  • Don't bring a brand new calculator. Bring a calculator that you're familiar with. Study for the test by using the same calculator you'll be using on the day of your test.
  • It's important to note that the Math Test includes some questions that require you to make use of a calculator even though it's permitted.
  • It can be beneficial to complete some scratch work in the exam book. Note down your thoughts prior to making use of your calculator.
  • Check that your calculator is in good condition and the batteries are not expired. The test center will not have batteries or extra calculators. If your calculator fails during testing and you're not able to find a replacement, you'll have to complete the test without it.

Acceptable Calculators

If you have the calculator with characters that are 1 inch or greater, or if your calculator has a display with a raised top that is visible to other test-takers, then you'll be seated at the discretion from the testing coordinator.

Only battery-operated, handheld equipment can be used to test. Power cords are not permitted.

Calculators which are permitted during testing are:

Unacceptable Calculators

You are not allowed to make use of any of these items as a calculator:

  • Laptops or other computers, tablets, mobile phones, smartwatches, or wearable technology
  • Models with the ability to connect to Internet include wireless, Bluetooth or cellular audio/video recording and playing, camera, or any other features similar to smartphones.
  • Models that include a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad pen input or stylus
  • Models that make use of electricity outlets, make sounds, or have a paper tape
  • In addition, the use of hardware peripherals such stylus devices that are compatible with an approved calculator is not permitted. Some models that feature touchscreen capability are not permitted (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
